The Lithophone was made out of Horton Limestone for Horton-in-Ribblesdale station waiting room. It is displayed with explanatory panels in the downside waiting room belonging to Northern Rail.
The Lithophone is permanently available for passengers using the far side platform courtesy of Northern Rail and Friends of the Settle – Carlisle Line (FOSCL).

This Limestone Lithophone was made by Quarry Arts for the Musical Rocks project which is part of Stories in Stone, a programme of conservation and community projects developed by the Ingleborough Dales Landscape Partnership, led by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
