Finding Ringing Rocks in the Yorkshire Dales

During the Spring we visited Threshfield, Skipton Rock and Dry Rigg Quarries with assistance from the Threshfield Quarry Development Trust and Tarmac. We found a few boulders which we could have cut down or cut into to make ringing bars. It is hard now to find large ringing boulders in these hard rock quarries because the blasting during quarrying rocks for aggregates introduces cracks into the rock and so they do not ring.
